چکیده
Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic value cryptococcal antigen-lateral flow immunochromatographic assay (CrAg-LFA) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) patients with pulmonary cryptococcosis (PC). Methods: A total 308 were divided into PC group (n = 72) and non-PC 236). clinical data, pathogen detection, radiological imaging, detection antigen blood BALF samples analyzed. Results: sensitivity, specificity, positive, negative predicted values CrAg-LFA serum 75.0%, 99.6%, 98.2%, 92.9%, respectively, while those 93.1%, 100.0%, 97.9%, respectively. sensitivity significantly higher than that (P < 0.05). Conclusion: has a for when analyzing compared samples.

Performance of the Cryptococcal Antigen Lateral Flow Assay in Non-HIV-Related Cryptococcosis.
The cryptococcal antigen lateral flow assay (CrAg LFA) was evaluated for the diagnosis of cryptococcosis in HIV-negative patients. The sensitivity was excellent, suggesting that this assay can replace conventional testing based on latex agglutination (LA). CrAg LFA and LA titers were correlated but were not directly comparable, with implications for conversion between assays.
متن کاملDetection of Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 antigen in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid by an immunochromatographic assay.
Recently, an immunochromatographic assay for rapid qualitative detection of Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 antigen in urine specimens has become available (NOW Legionella urinary antigen test; Binax, Portland, Maine). We have previously shown that this test is of clinical value in providing a rapid diagnosis of Legionnaires’ disease, especially in patients with severe community-acquired pne...
متن کاملEvaluation of a Cryptococcal antigen Lateral Flow Assay in serum and cerebrospinal fluid for rapid diagnosis of cryptococcosis in Colombia
A Lateral Flow Assay to detect cryptococcal antigen (CrAg® LFA) in serum and cerebrospinal fluid for the rapid diagnosis of cryptococcosis was evaluated. A retrospective validation was performed. Sensitivity and specificity of the CrAg® LFA was 100%. High concordance (kappa index=1.0) between Cryptococcal Antigen Latex Agglutination System (CALAS®) and CrAg® LFA was observed. CrAg® LFA showed h...
متن کاملEvaluation of Fingerstick Cryptococcal Antigen Lateral Flow Assay in HIV-Infected Persons: A Diagnostic Accuracy Study
BACKGROUND Cryptococcus neoformans is the most common cause of adult meningitis in sub-Saharan Africa. The cryptococcal antigen (CRAG) lateral flow assay (LFA) has simplified diagnosis as a point-of-care test approved for serum or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). We evaluated the accuracy of the CRAG LFA using fingerstick whole blood compared with serum/plasma and CSF for diagnosing meningitis. MET...
متن کاملDifferential diagnostic value of plasma cells in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid.
The aim of this study was to investigate whether the demonstration of plasma cells (PC), which are normally absent in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid, facilitates differentiation among pulmonary disorders. Initial BAL fluid samples of 1,260 patients were analyzed. In 83 of these, PC were found. Of these 83, 47 were obtained from individuals suffering from extrinsic allergic alveolitis (EAA)....
